Fresh green juice in the morning is probably one of my favourite ways to start the day. I especially love this apple mojito twist on the traditional green juice. I like experimenting with different combinations of fruits and veggies to create fun flavours like this one.
A lot of people shy away from juicing because they either think it takes too long or is an expensive hobby. I personally never juice expensive or out of season produce like papaya, berries, peaches, etc. I like to stick to the basics and keep an eye out for sales where I can bulk up! As for the time it takes to juice… trust me it would take you a lot longer to consume all that fresh produce you just squeezed into a single glass. Just like most healthy habits once you start you slowly become addicted and juicing is no exception. You will feel more energized throughout the day, sleep better at night, crave less sweats, and the list goes on.
Most of the ingredients in this juice are items you probably already have on hand in your kitchen. The bases for my juices are usually celery, cucumber, ginger, kale and lemon or in this case lime 🙂
I used a masticating aka “cold press” juicer in this video. What I like about this type of juicer is that it extracts your juice by pressing and grinding your fruits and veggies. Most traditional juicers use fast spinning metal blades which add heat and oxidize your produce destroying important enzymes and nutrients.
- 1 inch of ginger
- 2 stalks of celery
- Juice of lime
- 1 handful of fresh mint
- 2 kale leaves
- 1 cucumber
- 1 apple
- Cut all your fruit and veggies into smaller pieces to make it easier to push through your juicer.
- Juice all your ingredients using your favourite juicer and drink up!
- I like to juice the pulp a second time to get any remaining juice out and into my glass.
